Late Tuesday, February 1, 2011, a fire broke out at the Woodlands/College Park agriculture barn killing all 17 pigs.  Fire officials from the South Montgomery County Fire Department arrived on scene to find the 100 foot pig barn fully engulfed in flames.  Two of the pigs were scheduled to be shown this coming week at the San Antonio Exposition with the rest being prepared for the Montgomery County Fair. 

The Montgomery County Fire Marshal has concluded the cause of the fire to be accidental due to a heat lamp coming in contact with bedding material in one of the pens. 
 
"To lose them in this way is something you can never prepare yourself for. We can't prepare ourselves for that as educators; we can't really prepare the students for a tragedy like what happened here last night," advisor Matt Turner said.

Both the barn and the project animals are paid for by the students of The Woodlands and College Park FFA who raise these animals through fundraising activities throughout the year.  In order to help with the rebuilding of the pig barn and the loss of the students show animals, a bank fund has been setup at Woodforest National Bank.  To help the fellow FFA members of this tragedy, donations can be made to:
